Who knew you could bake without a recipe …my mom! She started prepping everything going from years of experience. It was so simple and oh my goodness delicious! So easy, I thought to myself I could do this. Since then I’ve baked 2 apple pies! Just call me Mrs.Homemaker 😉
Ingredients:
Apples (any kind) I used green apples
1 cup Brown Sugar
1/2 cup White Sugar
1 cap full of Vanilla Extract
1 pinch of Salt
Squeeze of 1/2 a Lemon
1 stick unsalted butter
2 Tbsp Flour
Ready Pie Crust (as shown in pictures)
Ready to bake pie crusts (in the refrigerator section to make the basket weave)
Directions:
Cut apples in 1/2 or diced. Just depends on how big or small you like your apple chunks in the pie. I cut up 4 apples total.
Place apples in a big bowl and add in 1 cup of brown sugar and 1/2 cup of white sugar. 1 cap full of vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt.
Mix together. Then squeeze in half the lemon. Give it a good mix.
Now we’re going to let that sit and move on to the next step.
In a saucepan on low-medium heat, melt the 1 stick of unsalted butter, then add in the 2 tablespoons of flour.
Mix well. It should be a thicker consistency.
Now put that mixture in your bowl of apples and mix everything together.
Pour the apple mixture into the Ready pie crust.
I then took the ready pie crust and laid it on the cutting board. Using a pizza cutter, I cut the dough into strips to make a basket weave.
I really took the time to get it just perfect, but don’t feel like you need to. It was actually really calming doing that and I enjoyed it.
Almost done!
Next, take one egg and mix it in a bowl and using a basting brush. Brush the egg on the top. This will give a golden color on the pie crust. I just quickly brushed it on, nothing perfect.
Once you’re done, bake it in your oven for 1hr at 375 degrees.
Let it cool then serve.
Best Served with vanilla ice cream!
ENJOY!!
**you know your oven best. So it may need a little longer, just watch it and if anything leave it in for 1hr and a 1/2.
